Best Bets For UFC Vegas 64

UFC

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will stage an event at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada, for the second straight week. UFC Vegas 64 will feature 12 fights, headlined by the women’s strawweight bout between Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos. ESPN+ will stream the preliminaries and the main card starting at 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday.

Chase Sherman vs. Josh Parisian, heavyweight

Sherman (16-10), a striker, snapped a four-fight skid the last time out with a late-round knockout of Jared Vanderaa in July to improve to 2-4 in the UFC. Meanwhile, Parisian (15-5) evened his record at 2-2 within the promotion with a second-round knockout of Alan Baudot. Both fighters have lost to Parker Porter via decision.

This fight wouldn’t normally be on the main card, but it should be mildly entertaining as someone should end up with a win by finish. While this bout is a classical tossup, I give Sherman the edge. But the best bet here is for the fight not to go the distance.

All but five of Sherman’s career fights have ended before the final bell, including the last three. Similarly, all but four of Parison’s bouts have ended prematurely.

Best Bet: Fight Does Not Go Distance (-225)

Miranda Maverick vs. Shanna Young, women’s flyweight

Maverick (12-4) is coming off a second-round submission victory – via a rear naked choke – over Sabina Marzo, snapping a two-fight losing skid on March 12. Maverick is 3-2 with the promotion. Meanwhile, Young (8-5) picked up her first UFC victory in her third trip to the octagon with a second-round knockout of Gina Mazany at the end of April.

This is a re-match from when the fighters were members of the Invicta Fighting Championship, where Maverick defeated Young in the one-round exhibition event. I don’t think anything will change, so take Maverick to win again.

The 25-year-old American finally put everything together in her win against Mazo. She is also more athletic and a fantastic grappler.

However, Maverick is such a huge favorite (-625) there is no value in betting her on the money line. Maverick has eight finishes, seven by submission, with only one coming in the third round. Young has submitted to an opponent twice.

Prediction: Maverick To Win (-625)
Best Bet: Maverick To Win By Finish (-105)
Other Bets: Fight Not To Go Distance (-135); Maverick To Win Via Submission (+140); Maverick To Win By Submission in Round 1 or 2 (+185),

Mario Bautista Over Benito Lopez , Bantamweight

Bautista (10-2) has his last two trips into the octagon since being knocked out by Tevin Jones in March 2021. The 29-year-old American looked fabulous in his previous outing, defeating Brian Kelleher via a rear naked choke in the first round on June 25. Bautista is 4-2 with the UFC.

Lopez (10-1) is fighting for the first time since July 13, 2019. The 28-year-old American is 2-1 with the promotion.

Take Bautista. Bautista is an up-and-comer who trains with the best gym, the MMA Lab, and seems to get better every time. He is solid in all aspects of MMA and comes at opponents fast and furious.

Prediction: Bautista (-300) To Win
Best Bet: Bautista To Win By Finish (+165)

Other Best Bets

Amanda Lemos (+130) Over Marina Rodrigues
Daniel Rodriguez (-200) Over Neil Magney
