Best Bets For UFC Fight Night 218/ UFC Vegas 68

UFC

Originally targeted to be held in Seoul, South Korea, UFC Fight Night 218 will be held at UFC Apex facility outside Las Vegas. Derrick Lewis and Serghei Spivak’s heavyweight fight headlines the February 4th 12-fight card.

Four finals of the Road to UFC’s second season top the seven preliminary bouts that start at 10 p.m. (ET). ESPN+ will broadcast both the prelims and Main draw, which is slated to start at 1 a.m. The following are the best bets for the entire card.

Sergey Spivak vs. Derrick Lewis

This heavyweight main event between ranked opponents was supposed to occur in November, but Lewis withdrew due to contacting Covid. Lewis ranked No. 7 in the heavyweight division, is a former championship contender, while Spivak is ranked No. 12 in the division.

Lewis owns a 26-10-1 career MMA record, including 16-8 with the UFC. The 37-year-old New Orleans native has lost three of four bouts. He was knocked out 55 seconds in the first round by Sergei Pavlovich in his last outing on July 30, 2022.

Lewis has 21 victories by knockout, with a record 13 coming in UFC heavyweight division. He has received four Performance of the Night bonuses and three Fight Night bonuses since joining the promotion.

Spivak is 15-3 in the octagon, though he has won just six of his nine UFC bouts. The 28-year-old Moldovian enters the cage on a two-fight win streak. He defeated Augusto Sakai via a second-round knockout in his last outing.

I like Spivak to win here before the final bell. While Lewis will always have a fighting chance due to his power, he has suffered much damage lately, and his defense is not very good.

Spivak is the younger combatant. He has looked good lately and has more paths to victory than Lewis due to his improved boxing skills and superior ground game. Expect Spivak to wear the big guy down and pick up a win before the final bell.

Both fighters like to end fights early. Thirty of Lewis’ 36 (83.3%) fights have concluded before the final bell and 15 of Spivak’s 18 (83.3%) bouts have ended early. Moreover, Lewis’ fights have lasted an average of 9:02, and Spivak’s bouts have gone 8:34.
