Belal Muhammad Deserves More Respect

Belal Muhammad

As the MMA world turns its attention to Abu Dhabi for UFC 280 this weekend. The card is what many are considering the best card of 2022. The card is star-studded, with even the prelims having some pretty significant fighters. One of those fighters just so happens to be #5 ranked welterweight Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad as he takes on an undefeated and #8 ranked Sean Brady in the Prelim Featured bout.

Belal Muhammad has had his attention there for the past five weeks. Training with Islam Makhachev’s team ahead of the event. This includes Islam’s coach and childhood friend, who just so happens also to be a UFC Hall of Famer, Khabib Nurmagomedov, which could result in a little more aggressive wrestling style from Belal, which could help him draw in some more fans.

Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad has an issue, and that is people do, in fact, remember his name, and it’s for being what some consider a boring fighter as he often wins by decision, with only 24% of his wins coming by finish. However, the MMA world needs to route more respect on Belal Muhammad’s name, as with a convincing win over Sean Brady, he may find himself with a shot at the title soon.

Belal’s Winstreak Coming In

Belal Muhammad is currently on a three-fight win streak, and you have to go back nine fights in his record to find a loss. Belal Muhammad has pieced himself together a nice little win streak, only interrupted by a no-contest caused by an eye poke delivered by current UFC Champion Leon Edwards. During this current run, he has beaten some pretty impressive names that, include Dhiego Lima, Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, and Vicente Luque.

I don’t think people truly realize how dominant he’s been as of late due to the fact that people don’t remember his wins because he doesn’t finish his opponents in this recent run of wins. His most recent finish was a submission over Takashi Sato back in September 2019. Regardless of what fans may or may not remember, Belal Muhammad is currently ranked #5 in the UFC rankings and with an NC in his history with the current champ. He may be a win or two away from getting his shot at the title.

Why Belal Muhammad Can Win at UFC 280

Belal Muhammad got to Abu Dhabi about five weeks ago and has been training with Islam Makhachev’s team as both of them prepare for the fights ahead of them. Khabib Nurmagomedov, who many consider the G.O.A.T of the UFC, has been working with Belal, and the two have built such a good connection that Khabib has agreed to be in Belal’s corner on Saturday. Khabib, one of the greatest wrestlers in UFC history, working with Belal Muhammad, who is a fine wrestler in his own right, is sure to give Sean Brady a challenge.
